We recently took the opportunity to install Aquamats in one of our stables here at La Garenne and thought that customers may like to see how easy the process is.
Start with a clean, dry stable floor and lay the mats in position. The mats are very heavy and need to be placed with no gaps in between them.
We found that the best method was to place the mats roughly in place and ‘roll’ them into position. It is then just a matter of tapping them up close to the adjoining mat.
We had two mats at one edge of the stable to trim back. This is fairly easy using a sharp stanley knife and a hand saw (for the long cuts).
We tapped the edges down using a rubber hammer for a perfect fit.
After the mats have been fitted, we use Aquamax in the back half of the stable only.
The finished stable with an Aquamax bed. The whole process was simple and fast taking no more than 2 hours. The tools you will need are - a sharp stanley knife, a hand saw and a rubber mallet. The savings in bedding alone will pay for the mats within months. We estimate that a stable using Aquamats will use 1/3 of the bedding compared to a stable without the mats.
The horse is more comfortable, warmer, drier and less prone to knocks when laying down or getting up. The mats are ‘bobbled’ on one side to avoid slipping for the horse and there are drainage grooves underneath them. Aquamats are guaranteed for 10 years.
All in all a very sound investment. Call Joe today for a quotation for your Aquamats.
